How to update your V7, V7-RTB or V10 controller.
- Download the correct program for your controller type from the options below.
- Open the downloaded folder on your computer and extract all files in the folder to a blank SD / MicroSD card. The card type (SD or MicroSD) depends on your controller.
- Turn the power off to the controller.
- For RTB boilers, lift the controller module at the rear of the boiler and remove the cover. There are 2 control boards mounted in the module, the lower one is the main controller. Insert the SD card into the slot in the lower board.
- For V7 & V10 modular controllers, remove both side covers on the controller and lift of the screen (but leave connected), insert the SD card into the slot in the control board. Then place the screen back on the controller temporarily while the update is loaded.
- Turn the power back on to the controller. The update will load on the blue screen. This may take several minutes.
- Once complete, remove the SD card.
- The controller will then restart with the new downloaded version.
- Turn off the power again and rebuild the controller. It’s now ready to go.
CAUTION! DO NOT LOAD V7 SOFTWARE INTO A V10 CONTROLLER AND VICE VERSA – This will result in damage to the controller.
How to update your V13 controller.
- Download the software below onto your computer.
- Extract all files in the folder to a blank MicroSD card.
- Open up the NBE V13 App. Make sure that your tablet is connected locally to your boiler.
- While the NBE V13 app is open insert the micro sd card in the back of the tablet.
- An installation process will launch that will allow you to install both the latest app version and firmware version.

About SD / MicroSD cards:
All new controllers use MicroSD cards, older controllers are using standard SD cards. Be sure to find out which card you need prior to downloading. In principle, all card brands can be used; however, there are certain types of card which can cause errors during the update.
What to do if your SD / MicroSD card fails:
Quite often there will appear to be no obvious reason for the update to fail, however if it does then try the options below. As they say ‘size doesn’t matter’ but in this case it does, the smaller the card memory size the better.
Easy Solution: Try another card if possible. We have had good experience with Verbatim cards 2GB and 4GB sizes, but this does not exclude many other brands from working.
Technical Solution- Format the existing card with FAT file system. We have seen several cards formatted with FAT32 which then work after they are formatted to FAT .
Very Technical Solution- Reduce the size to 2GB. This can be done, for example, by using the tool diskpart for Windows. This, however, requires some technical skill. Lastly, make sure to format with the FAT file system.
